Measurementand Examination
A clearly structured measurement and examination system is one of the defining features of Ultima Memoria (UM). It begins by assessing each learner's individual baseline, accompanies the training programme through successive learning assessment tests, and leads the process through to the Final Examination. In this way, learning progress and the learners' development are systematically measured, transparently documented and operationalised from the initial starting point to the attainment of the defined objective.
The Core Purposes of the Measurement and Examination System
Within Ultima Memoria (UM), the measurement and examination system serves three central purposes:
Prior to the commencement of the training programme, the learners' individual baseline is captured, measured and analysed through the Entrance Test. The results provide the basis for admission, the selection of the learning programme and the continued evaluation of the learner's development.
During the training programme, each of the three learning phases concludes with a Learning Assessment Test. This allows the progress achieved after each stage to be reviewed and marks the transition to the next learning phase.
Following Learning Assessment Test (3) three, the Comprehensive Assessment Test takes place. It determines whether the requirements for admission to the Final Examination have been met. Certification is granted only after the Final Examination has been successfully completed.
Alignment with the Training Process
The Entrance Test
The Entrance Test is the first step in the Ultima Memoria (UM) training process. As part of the Preparation and Admission Phase, it takes place before the actual training begins and establishes each learner's starting point across the four central dimensions of memory performance.
The results of the Entrance Test serve, in particular, as the basis for:
- the assessment of the individual baseline,
- admission to the further training process,
- the selection of the appropriate learning programme,
- the definition of the learning objective,
- and the evaluation of the progress achieved at a later stage.
The Entrance Test comprises the measurement, analysis and evaluation of the following memory capabilities*:
- S1/100A — The capacity of the memory
- S1/100B — The speed of the memory
- S1/100C — The form of expression and precision of the memory
- S1/100D — Long-term memory
*Ultima Memoria (UM) developed this measurement procedure and thereby enabling the exact measurement of these memory capabilities. On this basis, they could, for the first time, be presented in a standardised, systematised and structured form.
Learning Assessment Tests
In each programme, the three learning phases are accompanied by Learning Assessment Tests. Conducted at the end of every phase, they evaluate the progress made, document the learner's ongoing development and indicate the transition to the next stage of the training process.
Each training programme is structured around three consecutive learning phases. A Learning Assessment Test is carried out upon completion of each phase:
The Learning Assessment Tests enable systematic monitoring of development throughout the programme by:
- evaluating the progress made in each learning phase,
- recording the level of learning attained,
- making the learner's development across the training programme transparent,
- and both marking and enabling the transition to the next stage of the programme.
Each Learning Assessment Test relates specifically to the learning phase that has just been completed. With the successful completion of Learning Assessment Test (3) three, the learning phase of the programme comes to an end and the Final Phase begins.
Final Assessment
Following Learning Assessment Test (1) one, (2) two and (3) three, the Comprehensive Assessment Test provides an integrated evaluation of the three preceding learning phases. It determines whether the learner meets the requirements for admission to the Final Examination. Admission is granted only upon successful completion of the Comprehensive Assessment Test.
The Comprehensive Assessment Test forms the first element of the Final Phase. It takes place:
- after Learning Assessment Test (3) three
- and before the Final Examination
It therefore marks the transition from the learning phase to the examination phase.
The Final Examination
The Final Examination constitutes the central concluding assessment within the Ultima Memoria (UM) training process. It serves to:
- determine the final level of attainment,
- verify whether the objective of the selected programme has been achieved,
- and provide the basis for the subsequent certification.
The Final Examination is aligned with the programme selected and determines whether the corresponding performance target has been achieved. Its successful completion confirms that the requirements for Certification have been met.
The "Performance Level Achieved" and "Performance Target Met" columns are populated automatically based on each learner's measured results.
Results & Evaluation
Taken together, the results of the measurements, learning assessment tests and examinations provide a transparent record of the entire training process. They show the learner's initial baseline, trace development throughout the training programme and identify the final level of performance achieved. This forms the basis for evaluating learning progress, determining the extent of target attainment and proceeding to certification.
Within the Ultima Memoria (UM) training process, the full set of measurement and examination results are captured and evaluated in relation to one another:
- Results of the Entrance Test
- Assessment of the four dimensions of memory performance
- Results of Learning Assessment Tests (1) one, (2) two and (3) three
- Visualisation of learning progress throughout the training programme
- Comprehensive Assessment Test
- Final Examination
- Determination and assessment of the performance level attained
